The first one I used leaked. So I made sure the mandrel and insert were tight; it moved a little effortlessly, so I started spinning it around until it stopped. The problem was that he didn't stop, he just unscrewed! So I cut off the hose and carefully mounted another one. Everything seemed fine until I put pressure on him! Oil began to seep around the spike. Knowing it was tight I removed it from the fitting and made sure everything was clean. Reinstalled and same problem. I cut the hose off again and this time installed the old Earl fitting I had. Well agreed, same effort but this time. no leaks! 2 out of 2 bad adjustments are the wrong average. FYI I have been collecting hoses like this for over 40 years and I don't think it was operator error!
