Review on Combi Bolt CB2000 CHR 4 Dial Combination Sliding by Sameer Hilton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good combination lock

This device supplements a simple bolt with a combination lock and thus offers additional security for conventional gates. Some of these chrome versions have been in use in our coastal community for several years, so I'd say they're holding up well and holding back those who don't really want to get in. The black version will have the same durability in a marine environment, but black will likely work elsewhere as well. A few things though. The one I received in May-June 2014 still has the disadvantage of being able to change the combination by sliding the latch all the way out of the locked position, although another reviewer claimed that the manufacturer has fixed this issue. I would consider inserting a torx screw (or something similar) into the gate next to the non-locking end of the bolt to reduce this possibility. Also remember that with the combination to be tricked, an obvious setting of this lock means it can only be used on one side. You don't have to reach through or through the gate to open it as you need to be able to read the combination. If this is a problem you will need to mount it horizontally in a recess in your gate so it can be operated from either side. Loses a star for being too easy to drop a combo - this may not have been an issue in later versions.
