To be honest I was thrilled. how amazingly well they worked. Please allow me to explain. As a newbie to band saws, I was VERY wary of their power and potential danger. I worked as hard as I could. Clamp the workpiece securely. I carefully adjusted the blade and ran the saw at the LOWEST speed powered by this 10 amp motor to ensure the blade fell around the drive wheels and guides. Only then did I dare to increase the speed to #2 by gently pressing the blade against the flat, broad side of the flat steel (3/16 inch thick). I applied NO pressure and barely used the saw's weight (16 pounds) on the cut. It was done in just a minute or two. To my surprise, the cut looked polished. It was SO smooth - MUCH better than I expected or hoped for. Delighted with the success and results, I have since settled on 3 inch angle irons. again 3/16 inch thick. Although I didn't time it, it couldn't have lasted 5 minutes. Could you make the cutting edge smoother with a file? Boden... and I let him continue cutting - at the end. To my amazement, I found that the blade didn't cut, but began to cut into the overhanging cut, creating a small channel - as smooth as could be! I was surprised. I had no idea you could cut sheet steel so smoothly and easily. Were my expectations met? i laugh stupid Even at #2 (2nd slowest speed) these blades work GREAT!
