I used it on a homemade router slide to level the panels. My router is a Bosch 1617 and I was concerned that it might be too big in diameter - I was arguing between a 1" or 1.5" diameter. You want the biggest you can get without overloading your router's performance. This 1.5" worked great, with a little overlap (1/8" - 1/2" at the extremes of my pitch) between passes. The longer shank was one of the reasons I chose this particular drill I decided - it allows more.. and down leaving enough shank to grip the router. As a testament to the quality of the bit I used steel spacers for the router guide rails and within a minute of starting work I accidentally bumped with the cutter against the rail. I hate it when I learn something the hard way. Anyway, I had a knobby dent in the steel rail but the bit was almost completely out of phase. Under a magnifying glass I could see a very small dent in of the bat.But it still worked great on every pass and gave an incredibly smooth finish.Being an absolute perfectionist I ordered another identical cutter that is now referred to as my "final cut" and the one with the microscopic dent is my "rough cut" . a little." But that's one of the cool things about this part - the price is so high that even if you don't go overboard and buy two of these, you won't do it because you get more anal than you do need to go broke plus i like that i get italian quality it is a country of artisans and it shows in their tools quality matters hence the reason i was able to drive this drill bit into hardened chinese steel, and the italian one drill won.
