Not quite sure how to describe the box. so here it is. This box is not cold, but warm. lol seriously guys this is a heated dry box designed for 1kg filament spools. It comes with extra small teflon inserts for the hole that the filament is pulled through if you need to run straight from the dryer to the printer. This is rare for me as I live in the Mojave Desert and even our "wet months" aren't very wet. However, some threads are just finicky, needing the terminology you want to use. NYLON is the first thing that comes to mind and even here in the desert I have trouble with it if I don't seal it properly between uses and during the rainy season (YES we have desert rainy season) I have a lot less trouble if I run nylon out of the dryer. Thus, if the filament is fed straight out of the box, over time it can certainly cut into the material it is rubbing against. Inserts that small are nice, but you can make your own out of tubes or something if you don't have any. Btw this is my first commercial dryer and it compares great to the home made box with reptile heater and digital thermostat. because whether I want to feed from above or from the side. I think this will be the first part to lose because it was circulating and now I'm paranoid about losing it. The roller design is of the LOWER roller type. . Most of you will be like "so what". This is important for 2 reasons. Reason 1: You just open it up and insert the coil while drying. If you must feed, you must at least stick the tip out. Reason 2. And that's the most important thing for some people. There are coils with an outer perimeter that is not round but polygonal like a set of flat surfaces. This is important as it will not feed smoothly from this type of spool if fed directly from the dry box. you could fix it Pressure adapter to make it round. You can do what most people do and just tumble dry things and print from the printer's filament holder. But you have to know about it. Ouch. Note: I don't blame the box maker or the designer. It's the fault of those who "make our coil different" as there are very few brands that do. It has nice easy to use intuitive controls and readings, you choose the temperature and time and it does. I would recommend it. Yes if. Do you only need or want to dry 1 roll at a time or feed 1 roll out of the dryer (probably for most people. But in my case I have 4 printers with a 5th on the way so I can't be the only one). Another possibility would be if like me you have multiple printers. because you have a million ideas and you want to try them all before your time on earth is up. In this case, you can assign one of these to each moisture-sensitive device you want to print. Result. My DIY dry box makes more than 1 roll at a time. It's big and clunky, and putting it next to the printer loses a lot of usable space, so I tend to keep delicate stuff inside and try to print from the printer's spool holder. Sometimes it works, sometimes it's a sad moment. On the plus side, this item takes up only slightly more space than a roll and can be easily moved around and used when needed. If you look at it long enough and click on your favorite CAD program, you can too. could. Design a filament dryer holder for your printer so you can place it where you want.
