Have been using this for several months on my 70lbs shepherd/lab mix who is an intense puller without a gentle lead on. She jerks really hard if she catches a scent, Ans a gentle lead is the only way to safety control her on a leash (collar chokes her and harnesses pull her hair/cut her skin). This gentle lead is great! Very sturdy and holds up even if she pulls the lead off her mouth since it still keeps her safe by being clasped around the neck (like a collar). I refuse to use a gentle lead without this safeguard because I work in a dog daycare and hear of some terrible accidents caused by dogs escaping from the "mouth only” gentle leads. The cushioning is great! She has no marks (she marks easily) and does not display any signs of being uncomfortable. The sizing is wonderful too.My only complaint is that the clasp that holds the mouth area tight keeps coming undone during walks. My dog does not pull much on this lead and does not try to open her mouth wide at all, but it naturally does not stay clasped shut. My dog is well trained at this point, after years of wearing a gentle lead, but this would be problematic for a dog that sidewalk surfs, barks on walks, or pulls. It is important that the clasp keeps the mouth area taut (but not tight), but since the clasp doesn’t work well, it is very loose and would be troublesome with a dog that pulls/barks. E.g., my dog barked with this lead on once and the lead touched her eyes, that’s how loose it was.Since this does not pose a big problem for me and I have continued to use this gentle lead for months, I am only deducting 1 star. No other complaints and my dog and I will continue to enjoy this purchase!
