It's perfect in my review
This is really great. I wanted an old-fashioned butter dish (namely enamel) and with this wooden top, it's great for my farm-type kitchen. As for the rating for "Easy to Spread"? No, you can't spread this dish, but the butter is easily spreadable [smile here] as I never put it in the 'fridge. Hope this helps. It's a great little piece.
