I have for a variety of kids and it's great for both. one is thin and lanky, the other is thoughtful and doesn't like to be restricted. They wore them when they went boating with friends and I didn't have to struggle to put them on and they didn't mind putting them on. Tons of movement around the arms and the length was right at the waist. Also light weight. What it doesn't have is a central beginning that runs between the child's legs. This didn't bother me because it has three straps that can be tightened to a child's size. They didn't fall out when I swam in them but they are 10 and 12.
