Review on Alpine SPS M601 Type S Coaxial Speakers by Travis Smith

BIG speakers for the price and size. I don't have an amp on my boat but these things play great sound straight out of the main unit even if you turn them around. I previously had the same Alpine speakers that sounded just as good, but the grille was a snap-on cover and not attached to the speaker with screws. Over time, the repeated removal of the grilles caused the speaker edge mounting holes to crack and eventually fail, leaving me with speakers nearly falling out of the holes in the fiberglass. This new model eliminated this problem by eliminating the snap-on grille and using the same screws to attach the grille to the speaker and the speaker to the mating surface. Good job Alpine!
