I love stretching my own canvases, something about going through the process gives me a sense of satisfaction when the final painting is finished. The canvas tension is sometimes too tight. Because of this, I tear some of them - I pull too hard. I've never had this canvas tear and have stretched some fairly large formats. Not too thick: - I hate canvases that are too thick to work with. This roll has a really good thickness, easy to cut, and also has a little tensile deformation. The slight pliability of the canvas makes it easier to get rid of those pesky waves before applying the plaster. Absorbs well: - I had canvases that absorb plaster - 3, 4, 5 coats to finish it off. All the ones I've put on so far have only required 2 layers of this canvas. Of course you prefer that, but this canvas doesn't soak it up like a sponge. Good Amount of Canvas: - For the price, this roll has a solid amount of canvas available. 63 inches alone is a good stretch in one direction - add 6 yards and you won't run for a while. I am so impressed with this canvas that I intend to make it the cornerstone of all my work from now on.
