Affordable and Convenient Scanner

This is a simple and fast scanner. I use it to hold a collection of slides and negative strips that I've collected my whole life before the advent of digital technology. I already have an Epson Pro scanner that I bought for over $250 that I need for medium format negatives, but I've found it cumbersome on 35mm negatives and even more difficult to use on 35mm film. This scanner is inexpensive and completely self-contained. It does not need to be connected to a computer. Here's what I like so far: 1) Takes up absolutely no space. I have to pull out the Epson scanner when I need to use it, but I leave the F2D next to my lightbox. It is nothing more than a small table clock. 2) Uses SD cards and I can work for days (maybe weeks) before filling up a 16GB card. I really like it.3) I have a Panasonic BD player that supports SD card playback and I insert the SD card into the player when I want to check the scan quality on the big HD screen. This is a great feature when you have that combination of gears. 4) Uses standard mini USB power input. You don't have to worry about losing the power adapter or cable. 5) Once you understand the strange characters and the order they use for normal operations, it's very easy to use. I checked out the instructions and had about 10 minutes to learn all the features. 6) It has LED backlight. Don't worry about changing bulbs or CCFL bulbs. 7) Did I mention it's cheap and self-contained? This is the best reason to buy it compared to other devices. 8) It is portable. I can take it with me, although I haven't found one for this use case yet. 9) Magnetic snaps and slide holders are fast and (so far) very strong. Here's what I can handle: 1) There is no competition in scan quality between Epson and this machine. Epson has many image enhancement features that seem so simple. 2) The small LCD screen means I have to squint to see what changes occur when I adjust the contrast or brightness on the device. This is a very low resolution screen where you cannot see the details of the image. 3) I do not provide any information on the remaining capacity of the SD card used. 4) Why is it red? Not my first choice for a cheap and fun trendy scanner color. Here's what I hate: 1) User manual. Don't bother reading. It will only confuse. My verdict: Worth the money I paid for it. It's not cheap junk or a professional tool, but what a cute little scanner that does most of my needs. I agree.
