I've spent many months trying, buying and discarding all of the taillights. I personally would prefer one with batteries that I can take out and charge myself so that in an emergency I can either buy them or just carry extra ones and not have to wait for a charge. So I made compromises here because there isn't much choice in that regard. Realizing how effective this light was, I bought two to solve an emergency. What I like about this light is that it's bright enough to be seen well during the day but can gradually fade when riding with others. But what I REALLY like is the wide lighting angle, a real benefit for those who like to hang their flashlight on the back of their saddlebag, pointing slightly downwards. Keep it waterproof. I also like that when the battery is charging the light emits blue so it's obvious. As for durability, I expect based on experience that the active use interval of this flashlight will decrease over time as it will with any battery powered item. My experience with this light suggests that it will last a maximum of 2 years. The shortest time this lantern has retained its usefulness of a few hours per trip is Season 1. This can be greatly improved by allowing a battery swap. Spring.
