Review on 🛢️ Carter Fuel Pump Module Assembly P75040M by Sean Moran

I installed this with my father and father in law about a month ago which made the process more enjoyable. This part ultimately wasn't the problem I was trying to fix (which turned out to be the crankshaft position sensor) but has run out of it since I bought the car three years ago. So glad this got off the to do list and that it greatly improved long run/second run conditions which I thought were just endemic to the motor since I bought it. Now it is starting! It's amazing what working check valves can do for you in your fuel system! Judging from my review of various XJ forums these jeeps prefer genuine manufacturer parts (which is the case with the fuel pump, from Bosch) and my advice for things on the electrical maintenance side, sensors etc (especially CPS) should take this into account . But so far this pump has been good, even if it hasn't been around for a long time. I haven't had the corrosion/rust issues that a lot of people have. If you do, the Spectra (IIRC) straps and J-bolts are said to come in very handy if you have all the supplies. The biggest disappointment for me was the filler/bleeder hose clamps. A ratchet wrench, a PB blaster, some cranks and a jack, and a way to blow out all the dirt from under the plastic ring holding the pump in place is a big help (I used an electric air mattress pump). . It's not a quick job, even with help, but doing it yourself will save you a ton of money (as the store's hourly rates are now $100 and likely to increase). If you can, take your time and try to make an apology out of it. Why I chose the Carter fuel pump over the Bosch: The reviews on Revain and on forums were about smooth and with a similar number of reviews, with the Carter being about half the price. Sometimes if you spend twice as much you get twice as much (or half the disappointment), but that seemed like a good bet. We'll see if that's the case in a year or two.
