The review you've all been waiting for. After struggling with this filament for 24 hours, I achieved a flawless print on my $150 3D printer. As? Persistence. I spent 10 hours fiddling with my printer, cleaning debris coming out, replacing a clogged nozzle, and swapping out magnetic pads. But like any good 3D printer lover, I was determined to make it work. First, there are some key differences between PETG and PLA. The most important thing to note for this thread is that you need to set the bed lower than usual. If using a sheet of paper to level, use 2 or 3 (0.3-0.4mm) if 2 creates too much flattening on the 1st layer. Another thing to keep in mind is that you want your first layer to be printed at 240-245C. This is to ensure good adhesion to your heating pad, which should be set at 60°C so as not to damage the magnetic pads with this thread. I have found that the material melts too well above 60°C. until the moment when from deleting a part a part was deleted and both magnetic pads >:/. After laying the first layer, ensure that the temperature is reduced to 225°C to prevent stretching and seepage. When working with PETG you can start as low as 220°C and balance the grinding/weeping/pulling by increasing the temperature 5°C at a time. However, I have found that voltage appears above 225°C. I have attached photos showing my slicer settings. I hope this saves people time and the hassle I had to go through to get a good print with this filament. Good luck and happy printing!
