Review on πŸƒ Hobart 194776 Compact Running Gear with Cylinder Rack by Kenny Marozas

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The Hobart Welding Cart is solid and well designed. The assembly could be better.

I bought this welding cart to hold my MIG welder. I like the low profile that keeps the unit stable and it's narrow enough to move around my crowded workshop. The top shelf is roughly level and doesn't lean back too far like some other designs. The steel materials used are amazingly strong and I'm not concerned that they will hold my welder and medium sized tank. The rear wheels are rubber and plastic but have a unique and very strong construction. The front wheels are sufficient and rotate on ball bearings. However, the assembly of the unit is a little tired. The self-tapping screws provided (which attach the top and bottom shelves to the square tubes) are small and poor quality and fairly easy to remove. I had to replace 5 of the 8 sheet metal screws (#8 screws) with #12 screws. The existing holes will accommodate the larger screws when using a #2 or #3 Phillips socket set in a ratchet wrench. The rear axle was about 3/8" shorter and I had to grind down the spacers that came with it and use thinner washers to mount the rear wheels. Custom fitting is not uncommon for this type of stamped metal item and if you have an average shop or better , you will assemble this cart in about 2 hours with the materials provided Overall I am satisfied with this cart.
