You need to stretch them as instructed. I used an electric pump and inflated it with no problems. After inflation, twist the bottom to tie a knot, just like after inflating a balloon. I bought battery operated flashlights to tie to BOBO because the flashlights that came with them were short. It worked better for me because I used a battery pack to secure them with velcro command strips. It's just so beautiful! As everywhere, the first is the hardest, then the easy.
