Review on πŸ“± Brother P-Touch Cube: Smartphone Label Maker with Bluetooth Wireless Technology, Multiple Templates, Apple & Android Compatible - Blue by Marco Carpenter

Poor print quality, high ribbon consumption

I used my brother's label printer for a long time It was an old one before Model without connecting to a computer or phone, then switched to a Kingjim (sr5900p bought in Japan, not sure if it's available in the US). I know it's not fair to compare this car to a more expensive model. Save your money and get another more expensive one. I chose this one because I needed a tape with a white word on a clear tape and a strong adhesive, Kingjim does not supply this tape. Other reviewers have already posted photos of incredibly poor quality prints, I really regret not checking them before purchasing. This machine uses a lot of ribbon per print. Each time he used at least twice as much as I really need. When I type shorter words I think it's about three times as long as it should be. The only good thing is that the software for this is quite easy to use, but not as good as Kingjim's. Save your coins and buy a better one, but not the PT-P710BT, they have the same resolution as this one, which is 180dpi, can only print a wider ribbon (24mm). Get everything with a higher resolution. Get one with auto-cut too, I haven't tried Brother's auto-cut label printer personally, but I'm very happy with Kingjim with auto-cut. This really helps minimize tape waste. ***Updated with printed comparison image with Brother above and Kingjim below. Both are printed using the appropriate iPhone software, using a Courier font and a size of 10pt. I think it's pretty clear how elegant Kingjim is. Also for Kingjim I can set up a "half cut" mode that only spends half what brother one spends. If anyone knows how to do a similar configuration on the brothers' machine, I'd love to know. Again, I know it's not fair to compare this machine to the Kingjim machine, which costs significantly more. The thing is, given the quality, the limitations, and the waste, this machine really isn't worth the money. I hope someone reads this review before making the same mistake I did.

Pros
  • MULTIPLE LABEL TEMPLATES: Choose from a variety of pre-made templates or designer labels with 450 characters, 60+ frames and different fonts
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Every manufacture purposely designs their product to waste label material, toner and ink.
