I bought this knife guard for my 10" Mercer Culinary Millenia bread knife and it is a very strong and durable knife guard except that it is only one is suitable for straight handles with no slope.On a knife with a beveled handle (where the blade meets the handle) the guard does not fully cover the blade leaving about a half inch open.I was nervous to toss the knife in a drawer and accidentally running my hand over it so I took a dremel and sanded the edge on one side of the guard so it was slanted. It's not pretty but it works and the blade is now fully covered. The cut 10" Lid still fits a 10" knife so I'm happy with that. Now I'm going to add another protection for my 8" chef's knife with ge buy a straight grip.
