This is a good blade guard but depending on the shape of the blade the cover may not cover the entire blade. The sharp end of my chef's knife gets stuck about an inch from the handle. However, it's not the fault of the product, it's my fault for not thinking about it before buying it.

My drawers don't have separate wood slots for my knives and I don't have room for a piece of wood on the counter or an insert to keep them separate in the drawer.
