I've tried several nonstick pans after years of pondering. I usually prefer dishes that aren't covered in silverstone because the story is always the same. Because of the coating, pans shouldn't get too hot, which is absurd for cookware. Regardless of the temperature, the coating will wear off after repeated use. There's only one place this coating can get - in my food! Silverstone cannot be eaten, so I am concerned about how it could affect my family's health. This item was the only pan I could find without a non-stick coating. It wasn't very expensive so I was worried the pan would be thin. It's not relevant. The pan is quite heavy and looks well made. It seems to distribute heat fairly well. I've only used it once so far and my food didn't stick so I don't really know what the coating on other pans is for. I'm really shocked that Amazon doesn't offer other options, but this one seems to do the job. My old silver skillet is in the trash where it belongs.
