Review on Electric Bike Conversion Kit - Voilamart 26" Rear Wheel, 36V 500W Motor, Intelligent Controller And PAS System For Road Bikes by Jose Ballard

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great system, on a normal bike it should scream

Reviewing asked me to rate "sheerness" and "thickness".uhh.i gave those 4 dtars? This pic is my trike "before". This was already a 65lb machine at that time. Since then it has gained a rear fender assembly that is all steel and can support a passenger easily, fold out baskets, headlights/mirrors/turn signals, the ubiquitous orange flag on a 5' pole, and.the motor assembly. Now it weighs in at a flat 100lbs.This is my first electric motor on a bike. So after the first rides I thought "oh crap, I needed a stronger motor. Damn I wasted $"I described my symptoms to the seller. He made me jump through some hoops (understandably as he had to diagnose by remote) but he decided I had a bad motor controller.First symptoms: yeah, I had a touch of push. It sorta helped me to go a bit better. But after a few minutes it would crap out altogether it seemed. my battery consumption was far exceeding my expectation though. I figured it was just overstressed by the huge weight that is this machine and my 200lb carcass as opposed to a standard lightweight bicycle. The seller said, nah.I think you have a bad motor controller. He had another shipped out.Nutshell, he was right!.Ok.now I need a second set of batteries to do any real distance, but: This unit will pull me away from a stop on level ground, and build speed to hit a cruise speed of about 15-17mph with absolutely no pedalling.Me+bike=300lbs.and the occasional bit of cargo on top of that. With pedal and throttle, no hills are beyond my reach. On level ground pedalling comfortably I can easily maintain 25 mph & hit 30 if I need to.So.Thanks to the seller.Everybody has an occasional lemon. What matters is if you make it right. He did.

Pros
  • it works
Cons
  • The noise level of the motor may be disruptive to other cyclists or pedestrians
