I have several of these meters and they ALL add gallons (or liters depending on what you have configured) to the total flow when no water is flowing. This makes the user think that they need to change the filter sooner (sometimes much sooner) than necessary. I have emailed the company and they have not contacted me after sending them the photos of the counters which I have at their request. I urge anyone who has these counters to be cautious of their accuracy. In my opinion, the best way to go is to only use these gauges for short-term use, not the life of the filter. For example, take a month and keep track of your water intake and make sure the meter isn't fluctuating abnormally from day to day. After that month, you can get a pretty good idea of your water usage for the year by multiplying it by 12, assuming of course that your water usage doesn't change dramatically. I have found that these gauges can randomly add 10 or sometimes 100 gallons from one day to the next and sometimes they will hold accurate readings for a month or two before failing. I suspect that the mechanism that controls the water gets stuck from time to time.
