Review on Cisco Linksys E2000 Advanced Wireless N Router by Bam Reeder

I've had a Linksys WRT54G wireless router for about 6 or 7 years and I thought it was time for an upgrade so I went for it this E2000, but the main reason I bought this model is because of the perceived N over G range. In fact, my bedroom was on the edge of my previous router (WRT54G) and my Ipod Touch 4G (with wireless N support ) kept disconnecting). So I read that 802.11n has better range than 802.11g and decided to take a step that wasn't a priority because all the wireless devices in my house except an iPod and a Blackberry Torch (2 other Blackberries, 1 PS3, 1 Wii , 1 laptop) do not have 802.11n. Thing is i have the same problem, my ipod keeps disconnecting, i even tried setting the e2000 to only transmit in wireless n mode and still the same problem, later i found out that the ipod touch 4g is not compatible with the 5ghz band (which explains why it suddenly doesn't recognize my router when i set it to 5ghz) Had I known this beforehand I probably wouldn't be buying this router now since I mentioned priority. However, I recommend this model over the E1000 to take advantage of the 1Gb wired switch. It's easier to set up than the old WRT54G. Don't forget to disable the guest account if you don't use it for visitors who need wireless internet access in your home.
