When I got married we had two similar cheese slicers. It was nice to have 2 so while one was dirty and in the dishwasher the other could be used. One fine day a wire broke on one of the cheese cutters and years, if not years, began a long search for a replacement. At every store we visited we would shop for housewares in search of replacements. We settled on a type that can be adjusted to the size of a slice of cheese, but in the end it didn't satisfy us because the adjustment mechanism broke. We ended up buying the OXO brand from Bed, Bath and Beyond, but the handle is so thick and takes up a lot of room in our crowded utensil drawer. Then, after 41 years of service, our second cheese slicer broke down and we didn't want to replace it with the bold OXO brand, so I finally knew I had to look for a Revain replacement and I'm so glad I did. When it arrived I was so happy to see how similar it was to our real cheese cutters we started our family life with. Another important advantage is that it is produced in Germany, a country with very high production standards. I might even buy a second one to replace the thick OXO brand.
