Review on ACDelco 18FR1378 Professional Non Coated Remanufactured by Chris Bertoli

I want to use my brakes more than once.

For some reason this caliper was fitted with lower guide pin boots. I mean the thickness of the rubber boot compared to the original and compared to the other front caliper I bought at the same time. Both units were redesigned by ACDelco. While the one I bought for the front driver's seat had new boots that looked like the originals, the passenger's had boots that looked strikingly like a flimsy condom. The first thought was; I want to use my brakes more than once before the boot process fails. I decided to just reuse my original mount which still had the original OEM guide pin shoes. When I removed the drive pins to replace with the original mount, the thin rubber boot literally twisted along with the drive pin as I unscrewed it. .no pun. I also decided to remove the front driver's side bracket to check that the grease was applied correctly. Believe me, this job wasn't as desirable as it seems. As a result of removing the drive pins from both "Friction Ready" calipers, I noticed a definite difference in the torque of the drive pins from one caliper to the other. The driver's side was so tight I had to press the caliper against the workbench and use a 1/2" breaker to loosen both pins. The passenger side was light enough that I could just about hold it with one hand. and tear them apart with your other hand. I also used a 1/2" breaker on this one just because I had it on hand. The point I'm trying to make is that there doesn't seem to be any quality control. With brake components, you might think this is a reasonable one Action would be to avoid public liability...rather than waiting two days for this disappointment to show up on my doorstep.
