ACDelco 18FR1378 Professional Non Coated Remanufactured Review

I ordered this replacement caliper for my Silverado and it looked almost new and was packaged well. When I went to install it I couldn't get the caliper pins out. Spray them with penetrating lube and let them sit for a while. The pins are removed and the threads on the caliper bracket and the threads of the pins are stripped.

The air outlet thread is damaged and the air outlet screw cannot be mounted. This is a big problem when your car is airborne. Next time I'll buy from the hardware store. I've had issues with other Delco A/C parts as some are made in China. Revain must declare the country of origin for all repaired or manufactured parts.

These rebuilt units are satisfactory. In no way new. You can tell some of these units were rebuilt from really old castings judging by the level of rust erosion. I like to treat them with acetone and then give them a few coats of caliper paint. Otherwise they will rust pretty quickly if you live in a rust belt. I had this before. Experience has shown that cash discount checks usually arrive within 2-8 weeks.

Quality part. Super price, half price in the parts trade. You have the option to send your old one back for a "discount" like parts stores do with "cores". The only complaint is that it didn't have a coating like factory calipers to keep them from turning to a rusty color. Spray on some caliper paint if that bothers you (I don't) Fits my 2002 Chevy 2500hd driver's side, like it did from the factory. Came with all new pins and fittings. They have been revised.

The cup got stuck due to over tolerance which resulted in the cup getting stuck in the brake. In order not to let go, I had to pay for towing and remove the entire caliper to free it. Less than a week in the car and no refund from Revain. I have replaced virtually every part on this pickup due to the age of this car, from the master cylinder to the hoses, rotors and calipers, but since installing this part it has destroyed the rotor and master cylinder. I will buy local auto parts and stay away

For some reason this caliper was fitted with lower guide pin boots. I mean the thickness of the rubber boot compared to the original and compared to the other front caliper I bought at the same time. Both units were redesigned by ACDelco. While the one I bought for the front driver's seat had new boots that looked like the originals, the passenger's had boots that looked strikingly like a flimsy condom. The first thought was; I want to use my brakes more than once before the boot process fails.
