Review on πŸ‘¨ Maverick Electronic Thermometer and Timer: The Ultimate Kitchen Companion by Brian Rivenbark

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Couldn't live without her! - I've been using it since 2007 with great success

Too bad to see that the 2006 negative review is one of the most helpful for Maverick. But the way Revain sorts reviews makes sense: once a review gains momentum, it's almost impossible to publish. This "budget" thermometer is so reliable and so easy to use that my roasts/casseroles are always perfect. I especially like it when I'm making something that will spoil if overcooked, such as: B. pork tenderloin or steak. It also works well on thinner cuts if the probe is inserted from the edge of the meat to the center. The probe detaches from the main unit so the lightweight probe can simply be inserted into the meat on the counter and then connected to the main unit once in the oven. I suspect some of the negative reviews are due to user error. The instructions expressly state that the sensor must not be immersed in water. Hand cleaning is easy as only the meat end of the probe needs to be gently cleaned. And it's not designed for instant thermometers. The thermometer even has an alarm that alerts you when your meat is getting close to your desired temperature. I have a second Maverick, both from Revain. I bought the first one in 2007 and after 6 years the battery was completely dead. I bought a replacement in 2013 and it gets heavy use every week.
