I'm an electrical engineer this thing doesn't work

It seems the more I research something the more it ends up biting me. Essentially, this device must sense the energy flowing through the vehicle's wiring with a magnetic sensor and then direct its energy into the trailer's wiring. Also, it doesn't work. I carefully installed it without testing it first, thinking the manufacturer would know what they were doing. Guilty. Once installed, the device turns on the left turn signal for two flashes of light, then off for two, and then again for two. Resetting the device, the only thing a user can do to get it working, will not fix the situation. Does the same thing every time. Why does it take a signal for 2 flashes and then skip 2 when the same signal goes through the wires? I do not know. Applying the brake may or may not turn on the brake lights. It's random. The right turn sensor doesn't catch anything, although the connection diagram is the same as the left one. The left turn signal powers both sides of the trailer's turn signals in a very random fashion. That's not wiring, otherwise it would work all the time. The only reason I bought this sensor is because my newest car, a horrible 2018 Toyota Camry, sends CAN-BUS signals on the same wires as the car's lights for reasons unknown. It's just asking for trouble. In any case, I discovered this with a standard trailer wiring kit, which resulted in all of the Camry's safety features being turned off after occasional driving, which took the dealer weeks to figure out. Therefore, Toyota MUST use this device with zero contact, otherwise the entire operation of the ECM can potentially be messed up. (And since the CAN-BUS signals are on the lighting wires, I'm not sure if this lighting module wouldn't pick up that signal and turn on the trailer lights anyway.) I didn't want to risk it, so I decided to do it myself after much research Bought this unit for my new Sonata. . And it doesn't work. Contacting the manufacturer didn't help because once the device is properly installed, that's all that can be done. A check of other Revain reviews shows that many people have issues with this erratic device and many have to pull the fuse to reset the device every time they use it. It just seems like the technology isn't quite there. If possible, try the kit first.
