Re-settable short circuit/overload protection - guards itself and the tow vehicle from shorts and wiring install mishaps; rated at 4.2 amps for turn/stop circuits, 7.5 amps for taillight circuit. Works on all vehicle types including standard, PWM and/or multiplex systems, ensuring full brightness of the trailer lights during operation; can be used on 2 or 3 wire systems. ZCI sensor technology and direct connection to the tow vehicle battery, eliminates all electrical connection and interference with the tow vehicle electrical system. Very easy to install. Beware of buying this from other crazy markup sites!

I bought this harness for my Tesla Model 3 after installing Ecohitch. I found this trailer wiring kit on another site and it's about $200. I found this part number 119251 to be exactly the same as the one you can find on another site that uses the letters 'kit' at the end of the model number. Get this one, it's exactly the same for a fraction of the cost. I was able to connect my Model 3 without splicing any wires. Installation was easy and effortless. All parts are included, all you need is aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Disconnects the trailer light from the tractor electrical system
Cons
  • Something else

Great for BMW: Wiring

I installed this on our 2015 BMW X3. I installed it in under 1 1/2 hours after watching a video on etrailers.com. This is perfect for a BMW as you don't have to splice wires that can complicate the electrical system. The battery in the trunk makes installation much easier. You may need to purchase some new plastic fasteners to hold the fairing pieces in place. I recommend trying to get them from BMW (I know it will cost more), but there are so many different mounts out there that it's difficult

Pros
  • Vehicles with 12v system only
Cons
  • Expensive

Beautiful Trailer Light Kit

I installed this on my 2020 Tesla Model 3. Tracing the wires was impossible. not bad. After unplugging the tail light, I checked the small holes with a small wire and my electrometer. I couldn't find a good switched 12v supply so I used a constant 12v supply under the back seat. I installed a lighted switch above the carpet in the trunk so I could manually turn the lighting set on and off. I'm in the back of the car, plugging in the trailer, it's not that hard to flip the switch. Removing theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • ZCI sensor technology and connects directly to the tractor battery eliminates all electrical connections and interference in the tractor electrical system
Cons
  • Requires an outlet

Easy to install but 'learn' signal just doesn't work

No specific trailer wires for my Nissan Sentra 2021 (Aug 2021) at this time (Aug 2021) so I had to either who use universal connector - find in the wiring harness or something else. I found this product and the idea of not connecting to existing wiring seemed great; However, I just couldn't get it to work in my center. I identified the tail, turn signal, and stop wiring on the vehicle with a feeler gauge, attached the sensors, and went through the "learn" sequence. I tried differentโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Resettable Short Circuit/Overload Protection - protects itself and tractor from short circuits and miswiring; rated 4.2A for the turn/stop circuits, 7.5A for the taillight circuit
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Works great on Porsche Cayenne 958.2

Tekonsha 119251 works great with Porsche Cayenne 958.2. Installation was very easy and you can watch many videos online to see how to take things apart to access the cables. In case it can help someone, here is the wiring diagram for the rear lights for the Cayenne 958.2 model. 1 The brake sensor with the red sticker goes to the driver's red/yellow wire. 2 A yellow left turn signal goes to the driver with a green/white stripe. 3 The brown tail light sensor is connected to the wire with theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • 5 amp for trailer tail light circuits. Works with low side plug in vehicles
Cons
  • Cable shorter than other options

I'm an electrical engineer this thing doesn't work

It seems the more I research something the more it ends up biting me. Essentially, this device must sense the energy flowing through the vehicle's wiring with a magnetic sensor and then direct its energy into the trailer's wiring. Also, it doesn't work. I carefully installed it without testing it first, thinking the manufacturer would know what they were doing. Guilty. Once installed, the device turns on the left turn signal for two flashes of light, then off for two, and then again for twoโ€ฆ

Pros
  • 2 amps to spin/stop and 7
Cons
  • updates available

Tekonsha 119251 ZCI Zero Contact Interface for 2013 Audi A6 Trailer Lights

There is not much information about the Audi A6 with trailer hitch. Who puts the clutch on correctly on the A6? Well that's exactly what I did, this car has an incredible amount of wiring and controls and very little information on how to install trailer lights. The lights are PWM (Pulse Width Modulated) LEDs. There are many wires to choose from so you will need a schematic or you can do it using the elimination method like me. The Audi is actually lighter than most cars as the battery is inโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Works with all vehicle types including standard, PWM and/or multiplex systems to give full brightness to trailer lights during operation; Can be used in 2- or 3-line systems
Cons
  • Expensive
