I ordered 100 40 grit discs as we are rejuvenating a fairly large wood deck. The price was cheap so I decided to take a chance with the product and see if it worked. The discs arrived in about a week, which was the shortest delivery time. The packaging was good. The orientation of the holes exactly matched the dust collection system on my Makita orbital machine. The velcro stayed on for the life of the pad and had to be pulled hard to remove. In terms of pad life, they cut through a surface that was a mix of bare wood, solid paint, and alkyd primer in a reasonable amount of time with a disc load similar to the 3M 60-grit abrasive discs I compared. They're a lot cheaper, which is why the mantra has become "change more often than necessary" to maximize your cutting speed. That being said we ran maybe 40-50 pads over 2 weekends with (2) Makits running almost continuously for 5-6 hours on Saturday and Sunday. Granted, the 40 grit was a bit coarser than the 3M Pro Grade 60 blades I also compared, but they cut faster and last about the same. In truth, you could keep using the discs we removed, but the goal was to sand down over 400 square feet of old paint and primer as quickly as possible, so I had no motivation to determine how many square feet I could get off cushions. It was obvious that we got the best cutting speed based on how fast the bags filled. Overall I'm happy with the purchase and will be buying more as we have a lot more space to prep. Upgrading - Advice I think is worth sharing: keep your new discs clean. My wife left a few on the deck, and at one point the top one holding the Velcro was hit by a wave of sawdust - probably when a dust bag fell off her grinder. This pad would not stick to the sander's Velcro and was constantly thrown away. Once we identified the problem, we kept all new drives in a box away from the work area. Any drive will suffer from this same problem, so whether you buy these, 3M, or something else, it's a good idea to keep the Velcro clean. 07/03/2019 - Placed my third order this weekend. At the moment we have viewed (165) discs. The quality was the same for the last two batches. It's not the disc's fault, my wife pushes the sander too hard and it melts the velcro. It's time to replace the velcro pad. Again, with so many drives we've used, I expected this. We have party number 3. Same quality product, packaging and service as the last two orders.
