My computer desk has a few niches under the desk. I had two SSDs dangling from a small computer that sits under a desk on a disused IBM tower. I placed the DVD drive in the left corner and then attached two SSDs to it via USB connections. . The optical drive receives power and data via a USB connection to the computer below. Needed a USB extension cable. It certainly eliminated the mess where SSDs were trying to fall off the side of the tower. There's a clean connection to the computer, and all three drives are on the underside of the desktop. There are four non-slip rubber feet on the bottom of the DVD, but it's light enough that I had to put my hand on the top of the drive. when I insert or remove a disc with the other hand. A small paperweight can be a great addition. To use this drive to boot from a DVD I have to edit something in the file system, but it reads my only disc.
