suitable for plugging round holes?

I received this product today. It's hard to imagine how such a simple article could be flawed. Mine did come though and to my surprise one end is for a 1/2" socket and the other end is ROUND. That's right, not hexagonal but round. How a manufacturing company could make such a mistake I don't understand. I mean not that it's a hex head with rounded corners. No, I mean, it's not even CUT! HOW CAN SUCH A SIMPLE PRODUCT BE MADE? I've experienced poor quality control, but this is far from the worst. How come it even happens such a mistake?
