Five temperature settings is great and all, but my current mug has a very flat bottom and is metal, so it conducts heat VERY well. Even too good. Coffee is a bit HOTter than I would like so I have to remove the mug from time to time or it gets too hot to take. Out of unhealthy curiosity, I filled a cup with water and then 5 settings, and surprise surprise the water boils in a few minutes! Don't lie, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't originally intended for heating cups but for heating a hot plate. cooking their soup or cooking something while sitting at their office desk, this thing draws 200W of power at full heat! I'm VERY glad that this thing turns itself off when the mug is removed or when the plate falls off my table, it's actually a bit scary over 1!
