Review on πŸ”Œ SKIL SRT1039 Portable Benchtop Router Table by Bobby Montoya

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Low quality. May be suitable for edge work

I made myself a portable Rousseau top melamine table top and after a couple of cabinet door projects I thought I should be a bit more sophisticated and bought a Skil table. As a carpenter, I only occasionally use routers. When I started using it on Shaker doors last month, I saw that the plastic frame of the guardrail was butt bent and the surface of the 1/2 inch particle and melamine guardrail was concave. After a lot of experimenting with pads I got a guardrail. to be tolerant. Then I noticed that the entire top was cupped on both sides. I screwed the wooden planks around the perimeter to level the surface but it still wasn't perfect but I had to do something. My spikes on my T&G rails were completely inconsistent, but my doors ended up with no twisted frames, so I was lucky. As another reviewer said, outlets get in the way of the router. Good idea poorly implemented. My Hitachi router works with a quick release mounting plate. If you need to buy a replacement from Skil, you can now get a fixed clamp and mounting plate together for $22 at Bosch Tool Support.
