Resistance to low temperatures
I was trying to remove a cast iron skillet from an oven that was heated to 425F. I held the hot pan for about 5 seconds when I felt the heat drop. It didn't burn me, but the pencil started to melt and wrinkle. I've never noticed this with something light like a hot baking sheet. But with a heavy cast-iron skillet, I was surprised at how quickly the heat began to transfer. I want a material that doesn't transfer heat as quickly.
