It's a very humid summer. I used to do the salt in rice trick, but last summer it was so soggy the rice didn't even stop the salt from sticking together. I bought these hoping they would help and they did! The salt shaker was filled with just salt and no rice during our 3 wettest months and 0 lumps. I also like that if I get knocked over I don't have to remove mounds of salt or pepper. I love that they look like beehives but my husband says he loves them because they look like pomegranates. Whatever beehives or grenades you have, you will be happy with them ;)
