Review on πŸ”Œ CELLPOWER CPUSB01: 12V to 5V MiniUSB Power Adapter for Street Guardian SG9665GC DashCam and other Mini-USB Powered Products with BDP Low Voltage Cut-Off by Paul Powell

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very small, a lot of mA, but the shutdown function is not so good.

I've had 2 of these USB power adapters for about 18 months now and they power my front and rear dash cams 24/7. They worked well and provided the cameras with enough mA for normal operation, but the low voltage cutoff would fail me every time. If I don't use the car for more than 48 hours, the cameras are still on when I get in the car, but the battery doesn't have enough to crank the engine for more than a few revs when the car does. don't start. At this point, the low voltage cutoff is triggered and the cameras turn off, but it's too late and I need to set up a car battery charger. The battery was replaced under warranty about 6 months after the cameras were installed, but the new battery behaves the same, so it is not a battery. If I disable the cameras, I have no problem starting the car after a few days of inactivity. I gave it 4 stars because the size of this thing is very small and I was able to fit it in the overhead console easily and it has long cords to go almost anywhere in the car. I also gave it 4 stars because I think the battery shutoff feature is better than no shutoff feature as car batteries are not designed to be deeply discharged and if they go through a few deep discharge cycles they become useless in the winter. She.
