Description of πŸ”Œ CELLPOWER CPUSB01: 12V to 5V MiniUSB Power Adapter for Street Guardian SG9665GC DashCam and other Mini-USB Powered Products with BDP Low Voltage Cut-Off

Total Length = 13 feet / (4 meters) miniUSB side = 8 feet / (2.5 meters) fuse panel side wire = 5ft (1.5 meters) Red/Black wires are 16 AWG *Note, Add-a-fuse pigtail not included (5A fuse is ok). You can technically wire it to "Non-Switched" Battery fuse power circuit, but we recommend the Vico-Power Plus or MotoPark Fine Safer for parking mode operations. You can wire the CELLPOWER CPUSB01 miniUSB BDP hard wire kit to a "Switched" Accessory fuse power circuit and it will turn on/off with the car engine. Tip: Be sure to actually start the engine when testing Switched ACC power, turning the key one notch to ACC without starting the engine is too low on some cars. Hard wire power directly to your DashCam (miniUSB powered) 12-24 Volt Compatible. CELLPOWER CPUSB01 12V to 5V MiniUSB Power Adapter with BDP (Battery Discharge Prevention) Low Voltage Cut-Off for Street Guardian SG9665GC (and other mini-USB powered) DashCam products.

Works well even if the manufacturer doesn't give any details

Now I've installed two of them. The reason I bought them is probably the same reason you're looking at them - Battery Discharge Prevention (BDP) features. The provider encourages you to use a switched circuit, which defeats the entire purpose of BDP. If you want to activate parking mode, you CANNOT connect it to a switched circuit. You need an always-on circuit, e.g. a cigarette lighter, or in one of my cases the wires going to the card are illuminated by the rearview mirror. There are cheaper…

  • Few competitors

Works great, easy to hide, cables are long enough

Bought this to wire my Street Guardian SGGCX2 DVR. This adapter looks much cleaner and more discreet compared to the 12V plug that comes with the dash cam. I drive a very wide full size truck. My dash cam is mounted to the right of the rear view mirror and the power source is the fuse box on the left side of the dash. The wires were neatly hidden behind the fairing and there were a few meters left. I connected the red wire to "Add Circuit" and grounded the black wire to the cargo area. I bought

Pros
  • Slim design

  • Not as thick as other options

Very small, a lot of mA, but the shutdown function is not so good.

I've had 2 of these USB power adapters for about 18 months now and they power my front and rear dash cams 24/7. They worked well and provided the cameras with enough mA for normal operation, but the low voltage cutoff would fail me every time. If I don't use the car for more than 48 hours, the cameras are still on when I get in the car, but the battery doesn't have enough to crank the engine for more than a few revs when the car does. don't start. At this point, the low voltage cutoff is…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Hard to say
