Have been using this drill for many months now. I can't express how much I love this! It's such a nice little size and it's really solid metal construction. The only limitation I've found is that the drill can only be lowered an inch. But my workaround for this is to lower the drill bit as far as you can (best buy a long bit bit) and then, after you've started drilling, raise your object to drill through a thicker piece. So that's not an answer to the question. all your drilling needs in one drill press as it's limited by the thickness of your piece, but you can do more with it than you think. My only real complaint is that it's difficult to adjust the height. The top is very heavy and difficult to twist to loosen, so you can move it up and down. You might want to adjust it just 1/4" up or down, but that's really hard to do. Once you've loosened the machine on the stand, you should hold onto it and try to just raise or lower it to where you'd like , hold them and try to turn the lever to tighten them. Not smooth and not an easy thing. It gets easier with practice but it would be really nice if there was a way to do it easily with a wheel or crank whatever up or down, rather than just loosening everything or nothing and then wishing you had three hands to hold it, and carefully adjust it, then hold it while you try to do the Turning lever to tighten it is a bit crazy and awkward but overall I'm very happy with it and expect it to last longer than me.
