Review on Edelmann 8624 Power Steering Pump by Aaron Allen

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The kits contain what is needed, but the quality of the seals is poor

I converted my power steering pump with this kit about 2-3 years ago, and recently I had to do it again due to massive leakage on the shaft seal. When I removed the pump I found that there were 4-5 vertical cracks on the front shaft seal as if the rubber had dried and cracked. The original OEM gasket never leaked, but I replaced it with the gasket from this kit the first time the rear gasket started to leak. I regret that I exchanged the seal for this one. Since this manufacturer seems to be the only one making these kits, I had to buy another one. Hope I can use it longer. The shaft does not wobble, the sleeve is tight, the shaft is cleaned without stains and indentations. There is no reason the seal should be so torn unless the quality of the gum was poor.

Pros
  • Spare parts
Cons
  • Without automatic
