50/50 chance of getting a good yarn

I have ordered two 1kg spools of this yarn. The first coil seems to have absorbed moisture during the packaging process and will not stick to the bed for love. or money. The footprints continue to curl around the corners of the platform. However, the second coil sticks to the print bed during printing, even when using the exact same settings and G-codes. The weather was dry, relative humidity 30-40%. The filament is a mixture of PLA resin, starch as a filler (usually rice starch) and sometimes a rubber material as a binder. If you can get filament with a rubber binder, it should be more resistant to moisture. Rice starch in particular is known to absorb moisture more than PLA resin, which can also react with water vapor. I have yet to try putting the failed coil in the oven on very low heat to see if it regenerates into something useful. at $18/kg I'm not sure if it's worth the risk to my oven/marriage if things become a sticky mess in the kitchen. Conclusion: You take a little risk when you buy this thread. If you can afford to throw a nearly full drum when that doesn't work, then it might be worth it.
