Review on 🌱 ZRDR CO2 Generator System with Dual Gauge Display and Automatic Pressure Relief Valve 2L Carbon Dioxide Supply for Plants and Aquarium, Stable Output by Lisa Dvorak

Better than expected quality

I took a chance and saw there were no reviews but wanted something nicer than a typical DIY CO2 setup. It fits this requirement very well. The bottle is highly polished stainless steel and the regulator, bubble counter and needle valve seem pretty good for the price. I don't use the included diffuser and instead bought a nicer jar that better suits my 5 gallon aquarium, but the included diffuser is quite heavy and appears to be well made; It's just big and obtrusive as it's made of metal, not glass or acrylic. The downside is the included CO2 tube which is very rigid and has a lot of storage as it is boxed and stacked with magnets. The magnet gets very hot. Not "burn your skin" hot, but very close, which is odd as this is a 12v dc solenoid. I would like to see the specs of this magnet to make sure it is rated for 100% duty cycle. Finally, the instructions for installing the filter floss that I found in the regulator's filter assembly are a bit confusing. This could be packaged separately to make it a little clearer. I only started using this kit today after filling it with raw materials yesterday. I had to stand all night to reach the recommended 20 bar tank pressure, but once I connected it I was able to adjust it really well. Everything came very well packaged, the whole kit came with spare gaskets and o-rings. I run this system at a rate of 1 bubble every 2 seconds and the instructions say it should last around 80 days on a single charge (8 hours a day). I will update this review as soon as I can verify the accuracy of this statement. UPDATE: It's been a few months and I'm still happy with this CO2 system. A charge lasts about 6-8 weeks, although 8 weeks can stretch it a bit. Well made, modular and upgradeable, it's the perfect middle ground between CO2 pressurized systems and do-it-yourself systems.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Updates available
