Replace your old gas cap!

I have a 2009 Wrangler Rubicon and got an intermittent check engine light code P0456 which reads like a small evaporator leak. When I closed the gas cap, it stopped making the characteristic clicks. I did some research and found that the gas cap is part of the vaporizer diagnostic circuit. Since the Jeep is over 7 years old, the gas cap rubber gasket is probably old and not sealing properly and the leak detection logic has set a code. After installing a new fuel cap, the check engine light went out after a short drive. . It's also a good idea to replace your old gas cap when you get this code as it's the easiest to replace and it's so cheap. Other parts in the evaporator circuit are simple but will take time to replace. Overall, I've learned to trust OEM parts rather than buying inferior parts that don't meet OE specs, and OEM doesn't cost much more. as unnamed spare parts.
