My remote died this week and I was looking at the remotes on Amazon. That was helpful because I didn't think to look for the Roku app (which got me through a few days without a remote but worked maybe fifty percent of the time) until I read the review from someone who said that they were using it when they lost their remote control. I've read reviews of remotes and have come to the conclusion that some people have overlooked the fact that these remotes have model numbers and are only useful if you have a Roku TV and not just a plug. fate. Mine worked as soon as I put batteries in. Oddly, it's a bit confusing because the Roku app worked (at least half the time) with my Roku TV. I would recommend this remote if you have a Roku TV. Updated review: I bought this in September 2019 and it lasted a year and a half (now it works - sometimes). I ordered another one tonight so be aware that these are fakes and not the original (which is why they are so cheap) and don't expect them to last as long.
