Review on πŸ’§ Gold Vanity Vessel Sink Drain with Overflow, Angle Simple Brass Pop Up Stopper, Lavatory Drain Assembly for Bathroom Sink by Victor Glatzel

Disappointed as a result

About the drain can only be so poetic. You expect three things from it: it has a good finish, it doesn't leak, and it holds water when asked. I bought and installed two of these and so far this one does all three. For the record, being old-fashioned, I didn't use the top rubber washer that comes with the gutter, I used tap spatula, so no comment on this article. 3 WEEKS LATER: REDUCED RATING Both drains began to leak. Why they waited 3 weeks before both started leaking remains a mystery, likely due to a change in our usage patterns. The reason for the leaks appears to be that each of them is missing an important part, the large washer that traditionally sits between the bottom rubber gasket and the mounting nut that holds the whole assembly together in the sink. Without this washer, the nut will rest directly on the rubber when tightened, and the lateral component of its movement when tightened may deform the rubber gasket, which apparently happened in our case. I had to go to a plumbing supplier to find suitable large brass washers. Now that the nut is tightened all the force is directed up where it should be. The rubber is not subjected to torque that can deform it. Another precaution against leaks was taken: pipe lubricant was applied around the threads. I would not buy either of them again and when they run out again I will replace both.
