Review on Hobart 10-Pound H222108-R22 E71T-11 Carbon Steel Flux-Cored Welding Wire, 0.035-Inch by Thomas Chalecki

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Minor mess, no fuss. This is a decent wire if you need to let off the gas.

Low spatter for gasless cored wire and will not catch in the drive rollers. Fairly easy to clean but not as good as a standard gas MIG. I can see the puddle and control it pretty well in most positions. I have to choose a slightly different tension and pitch for vertical, but that's pretty typical. I get a good penetration but as always it won't be so much about the wire as it is about your paying attention to the details. I've run this outside on windy days and haven't had much of a problem. If it's really windy I'd suggest a good stick instead. The flux core generates some gas and you don't want to lose that shield. I've also done this on cold days (40-50 F.) with a melee weapon and suggest you preheat the joint areas. You don't need much on mild steel, but this will help. FWIW, I run this in a Miller Multimatic 200. No complaints.
