Reversing camera, reversing camera

It took me quite a while to finally install this. I thought long and hard about how to drill holes and where exactly to mount it. I finally decided to buy a black metal license plate holder frame at my local auto parts store. I installed the holder upside down so that the thick center section is at the bottom. I drilled mounting holes in the frame and routed the wires behind the panel for a really clean install. I drilled a hole (and added a rubber grommet) to route the wires into the trunk lid where the wires for the reverse lights are also located. I've tried using a .22 "Splice" with terrible results. Then I finally stripped the insulation off the pair and soldered them together, using duct tape to insulate the connections and then another turn of duct tape to get everything clean. (I use some superglue to keep the end of the tape from unwinding over time.) Also, following another reviewer's advice, I coated the camera with clear sealant (just around the edges of the clear plastic lens). !) and allow them to dry completely before placing them where rain etc. may catch them. This is a very cool little camera with red, yellow and green markers on the image to help you judge distances. I actually had the opportunity to parallel park a few days ago. (I don't have to do that anymore!) It was really nice to know exactly how far I could back up before having to rock it forward again. I am very happy with this facility.
