I bought this cover because it is stronger than the screen cover. For some reason my cats love to sit on my lizard tank. Over time, they cause the screen to fall off. Dangerous for my lizard! That's why I bought this and I feel like it's the answer to cats and lizards living in the same house. The dimensions of the inside of the lid are 30 1/4" x 12 7/8". This lid is too shy to be long enough for my fish tank. Its length could have been an additional 1/4 inch for a proper fit. But with a little effort, it fits snugly on top without damaging the lid or the aquarium. I am happy with my purchase and feel it will keep mine safe for lizards and strong enough to place warming lights on it
