I decorate the interior of my self-catering cabin. There is a lumber mill less than 10 miles from where I can buy raw lumber of almost any size I need. I have a large 2 inch thick, 10 foot long slab of knotty pine with a live edge that I need to sand down with kitchen counter surface sandpaper. I didn't have a random orbit sander, so I ordered this BLACK+DECKER BDERO200C 2.4A corded random orbit sander for the job. Starting with a coarse grit to sand out saw marks and then gradually moving to a finer grit, this sander produces a very nice finished piece of wood. It has a lot of power and its random sanding pattern (if you can call it that) leaves no circles on the finished surface. I have found that with coarse grain on coarse wood it is best not to apply too much pressure. or the grinder "walks" over you. This is to be expected from any orbital sander. The dust collection system works quite well. Most of the dust is sucked into the dust collector. I wouldn't mind if the grinder was a bit heavier as it transmits more vibration to my hand than I expected. But again, given the price, that's a very small problem for me. It's very useful and gets the job done. I don't care enough to deduct a star. The sander comes with three pieces of sandpaper: medium grit (60), medium grit (80) and medium fine grit (120). Since I have a lot to sand, I ordered extra sandpaper. Overall I am happy with this grinder. There will be many benefits. If I encounter any issues while working on my raw wood projects, I will update my review.
