Review on πŸͺŸ Jeacent AC Window Air Conditioner Support Bracket Light Duty: Sturdy, Up to 85 lbs by Michael Cormier

Not strong, especially 6th floor and up

After reading all the good reviews I got this GE 12,000 BTU AC window mount. I live in an apartment in New York and wanted to make sure the AC unit was supported. My windows are new, made of aluminium, the window sill is made of concrete/brick on the outside. The paper instructions are a little difficult to follow, but there is a manufacturer's YouTube video, so I watched it a few times and tried to install it with a friend's help. We drilled per the instructions but once the bracket was fitted we ran into problems: 1. The support leg that fits between the bracket and the front of the building was loose and we couldn't tension that leg well even after doing some AC- had added weight.2. The 3 screws that go to the plastic blocks weren't tight, even with the dowels in the concrete windowsill. They wobbled and after a while during assembly just popped out of the sill when light pressure was applied to the mount. It was a little alarming.3. Due to the height of the bottom of my window and the sill with the bracket there was still a 1 3/4" gap so I tried to fill it with a piece of wood but again due to the height of the unit and was concerned that something could come loose and fall from the 6th floor, I decided to abandon the whole project.Long story short, my air conditioner isn't working and this purchase was a failure.
